Idaho Hill Site Council Meeting, 4/28/16 at 7:15 a.m. in the library.
Thank you Girl Scout troupe and Idaho Hill boys who worked on our grounds last week. The flower beds and potted plants look great!
The ISAT (Idaho State Achievement Test) will be given to our 3rd through 6th graders beginning Tuesday, April 12th and ending Friday, May 20th. Each grade level will only take one test per week and we are hoping to have the results before students leave for summer vacation.
Parents play an important role in supporting our students during our assessment window. Please talk with your child about how important it is to do their best and show everything they have learned. Please make sure your child/children are getting enough rest and schedule appointments for the afternoon if possible. Working together, we are seeing students make great progress.
Thank you Grandpa Tom for building birdhouses with our kindergarten class. We appreciate your time, materials and energy in providing this fun activity for our students
At Priest Lake Elementary, we have been busy taking the ISAT (Idaho Standards Achievement Test) in grades 3-6 and completing the IRI (Idaho Reading Indicator) in grades K-3.
This Thursday (4/28), PTO will kick off a new fundraiser...cookie dough! Look for information in your child's backpack about prices and prizes!
Thank you to the amazing ArtSmart volunteers! The students finished their individual quilt squares last Tuesday. Our Global Art Project will be sent to the receiving school this week and we will receive our gift in the beginning of May
Here we are ready to enter into the 4th quarter of the 2015-2016 school year. I hope that both you and your student have a restful and relaxing spring break.
When students get back from spring break, we will be starting the ISAT test. 7th graders will start with the Science ISAT, and then 7th and 8th grade will all take both the Math and English Language Arts ISAT. These tests both have a performance test and a non-performance test that students will take.
Please talk with your child about the importance of the ISAT. The student scores are used for a variety of reasons: To monitor that schools are teaching the required material, to monitor student growth from one year to the next, to see if students are proficient at their current grade level, and to help plan instruction for the following school year. Students are required to pass the ISAT tests in high school as part of the graduation requirements, so now is a good time to make sure they have a good understanding of what the ISAT test is all about.
Encourage your child to do their best, to get a good night’s rest the night before any of their tests, and to take each test seriously.
On another note, please be sure to inform the office if your child is absent for any reason. Also, please remind them that if they are absent, it is their responsibility to get any work that they missed, and to discuss with the teacher when the work is due. If a child is here when work is assigned, and then absent when it is due, then they are responsible to turn that work in on the day that they return to school.
As we move into fourth quarter, we are going to be doing a test run of sending progress reports home via email. For this reason, please make sure that the office has your current email on file.
