21st Century Community Learning Center

Parenting the Love and Logic Way™ and Financial Planning workshops coming in April and May at the high school courtesy of the  21st CCLC afterschool program

The PLLW six session parenting course was designed to help parents find specific answers and actions for some of those difficult moments in child rearing. These simple techniques are effective with all children, from toddlers to teens and will show you how to avoid unwinnable power-struggles and arguments, stay calm when kids do incredibly upsetting things, set enforceable limits, avoid enabling and begin empowering, help kids learn from their mistakes rather than repeating them, raise kids who are family members rather than dictators and much more.

When:  April 15th, 22nd, 29th, May 6th, 13th, 20th 6PM until 8PM.  Free for parents of 21st CCLC participants, all others $10.00 for workbook. Please pre-register so the appropriate number of workbooks can be ordered.

Financial skills workshops are available thanks to Seth Callos and Edward Jones Company:  March 19th “How to create a budget and get the most bang for your buck,” April 16th, “What is an IRA?  How can I plan for retirement?” and May 21st, “What the heck are stocks and bonds? Learn about ways to invest for your future.”  These run from 6PM until 7PM. For information or to register for the parenting course please call Betty Gardner or Michal Cole, 21st CCLC team @ 448-1211 ext. 6 or go to our web site at lam.sd83.org and follow the links.
