WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?

On August 27th, 2006, the Idaho Legislature removed the $3.00 per thousand of assessed evaluation from your property taxes that went to schools. They replaced the property tax with a 1 cent increase in the sales tax. With the huge drop in the economy, the sales tax revenue has gone down drastically but our legislature has chosen to respond by simply cutting school budgets each year since 2008-09.
